The core of routine maintenance for stepper water heaters lies in regular cleaning, checking safety precautions, and ensuring proper operation. This effectively extends the equipment's lifespan and ensures safe drinking water.

1. Regularly Replace the Filter Cartridge

It is recommended to replace the inlet filter cartridge every 3-6 months to prevent impurities from clogging the booster pump and causing it to operate under overload.

If the water quality in your area is hard (such as in northern cities), the replacement cycle can be shortened appropriately to avoid rapid scale buildup affecting heating efficiency.

2. Clean the Inner Tank and Descaling Maintenance

Clean the inner tank every 6 months to 1 year to remove scale buildup on the heating element and inner wall, improving heat transfer efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

You can use a food-grade citric acid or white vinegar solution to circulate and soak for 6-8 hours to soften the scale, then rinse thoroughly.

Before cleaning, be sure to disconnect the power and empty the water tank to ensure safe operation.

3. Check the Water System

Regularly check the inlet pipe, connecting hoses, and interfaces for leaks, and replace aging sealing rings promptly.

Check that the float valve is working properly to prevent overflow or dry burning due to malfunction.

Ensure the overflow pipe is unobstructed; this is crucial to prevent the heater from overheating and being damaged.

4. Electrical Safety Inspection: Check the power cord, plug, and residual current device (RCD) for damage, and inspect the wiring for sparking or corrosion.

The water heater must be reliably grounded and must not share a socket with other high-power appliances.

Measure the insulation resistance of the wiring quarterly; it should not be less than 0.5 MΩ to ensure electrical safety.
